Any progress on this bug? This is a fairly popular laptop that sold well
over the holidays, so I suspect many users are running into this
problem.

Which version at kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline do you want me
to test? Daily is at the top, but you do not want me to test that, so I
am confused. Also, can I make this work on a live boot USB stick? I
cannot install the OS on the netbook since at the moment only Win8 is
useable.
