I don't know what this help output should look like, but this is the
output in 11.04:
$ iptables -m statistic --help
iptables v1.4.10
Usage: iptables -[AD] chain rule-specification [options]
iptables -I chain [rulenum] rule-specification [options]
iptables -R chain rulenum rule-spec
I confirm that in the latest release (Lucid Lynx here) the command:
iptables -m statistic --help
correctly displays the statistic module info.
I cannot find anymore the libipt_statistics.so file, but that looks
related to iptables architecture changes.

This appears to be fixed in the Karmic 9.10 kernel.
Not sure when it was fixed, but I can load the statistic and connection
tracking modules. Please close this bug.

No, xt_statis
It seems that statistic (e.g. --nth) has been moved into the 2.6 kernel itself
and is not a part of iptables starting with release 1.3.7. Can we get 1.3.7 at
least in gutsy?
See http://securepoint.com/lists/html/NetFilter/2007-04/msg00091.html for more
info.

Perhaps I should raise this as a separate bug, but It would appear that
CONNMARK is not included in the ubuntu kernel either.
This makes it a lot more difficult to mark all related packets in a connection,
which makes advanced routing with fwmarks more complicated if not impossible :(
