This was probably due to 27667 or one of the other xresprobe bugs that
was fixed recently. I'm marking as fixed in Gutsy-final as I'm 99.9%
sure it should be taken care of now, but please feel free to reopen if
the issue occurs still in Gutsy final.

According to your xorg.conf you are still using the old i810 driver. Please
change the line Driver i810 to Driver intel under Gutsy in your xorg.conf.
After a restart your external monitor should work and you can dis/enable it
with xrandr.
This driver is used by default in Gutsy so you don't
