I took a look at the CHANGES file, and it looks like there are some new
upstream features with this release. As we are currently in a feature
freeze, can you please provide a feature freeze exception in the bug
description, as described here [1]? Thanks. :)

The new upstream release consists only of applying patches already in
the Debian package and updating the documentation accordingly, so there
are no new features.
