Thank you for the update. However, I had already taken the following
steps to resolve the issue.
First, i took a backup of my data. Then I did afresh install of the OS.
The installation did not cause any problems, but on removing my bootable
Pen drive and booting from the newly

I have the same issue. Works with 3.13.0-44-generic but not with
3.13.0-46-generic and 3.13.0-48-generic.
Laptop is ASUS X200MA.
