One possibility: the 200% is because the code adds together 100%
download progress + 100% installation progress, not taking into account
that they are happening together.

oh, it seems it installed after all, I exited the panel and came back to
find a software uptodate ... issue is that the apps view in unity8
didn't get refreshed (what component is supposed to force a refresh?)
and clicking on the icon fails because (according to the log) it tries
to start the old
not sure if that's not an issue with the service, I clicked retry a
bunch of time and it gave no feedback
there are at least some issues with the UI
- retry button seems unactive
- no error displayed in the UI
- 200% ?!
