I still don't think this is a bug. If audio-recorder produces files with
colons in the name, it needs to ensure that avconv/avprobe is called
with file:.

I don't think this is a bug in avprobe but rather in audio-recorder. If
audio-recorder uses characters in filenames that have a specific meaning
in an URI, it has to use the correct protocol.

A temporary solution is to use a file: prefix on the filename. Like
this
$ avprobe -show_format -show_streams -pretty
file:2015-02-20-22:21:25.ogg
