Maybe this helps:
root@xubuntu:~# /etc/init.d/ntp status
● ntp.service - LSB: Start NTP daemon
Loaded: loaded (/etc/init.d/ntp)
Seems even worse if BOINC is running - now it shows 4:20 am at 9 am!
