What release of Ubuntu are you using? If it's 6.06 or earlier, please
retest with 7.10. If it's 6.10 or later, please specify which release
and attach your /etc/default/console-setup and /etc/X11/xorg.conf files.
Are you referring to keypresses at a virtual console or in the graphical
environment?
Using 7.10. Will upload it when I get home. This is in the graphical
environment (gnome)
