I installed the computer from scratch with Ubuntu 15.04. The touchpad
works without any updates. But with Ubuntu 14.10 and all updates the pad
is not recognized.

Did this issue start happening after an update/upgrade? Was there a
prior kernel version where you were not having this particular problem?
Would it be possible for you to test the latest upstream kernel? Refer
