The last line in the log says "Aborting MariaDB installation". This means that the user has himself/herself chosen to abort the installation in the debconf screen. This is not an actual bug, more of an usability thing. See https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/mariadb-5.5/+bug/1457356 --
