As of an aptitude dist-upgrade approx 1 hour ago, this is now my
permanent state with respect to how dash operates. Perhaps my machine
could be of some use for debugging purposes.

It should be obvious that when something becomes transparent to clicks,
you may accidentally (and without even knowing) click on anything that
causes UNRECOVERABLE DAMAGE AND DATA LOSS (such as a "delete button" or
the "ok" button of a "are you sure you want to destroy your computer"
prompt).
I have this issue on my system as "normal" state.
