Public bug reported: As one can get very confused with all of the updates and upgrades, I think that it would be good if there was an option which would mean that APT would run something like:
sudo apt-get update; sudo apt-get dist-upgrade The option could be something like: sudo apt-get full-upgrade Although I believe that that may be already taken, or at least with apt, not sure about apt-get, but something like that would do. And although one could just create an alias, which users who are not very experienced I think that a built in option that would just do it all for them would be good. So that there would be an easy option for new users to just run as a sort of command-line Software Updater experience equivalent, and it is also good for users who just don't want to run the same commands over and over again, and would prefer to just have one command. ** Affects: apt (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1493978 Title: Have option that runs 'update' and 'dist-upgrade' automatically To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/apt/+bug/1493978/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
