On my T61p, the brightness keys do pop up the brightness scrollbar and
scroll it properly. Unfortunately, the brightness of the laptop display
is _not_ affected. The T61p has an nvidia Quadro FX 570M, and I have yet
to find a
I just upgraded to intrepid yesterday. The slider bar does now appear
when the brightness buttons are pressed, and the screen brightens and
darkens as expected.
I'm using the NVIDIA accelarated graphics driver (version 177)
according to Hardware Drivers.

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu
better. You reported this bug a while ago and there hasn't been any activity in
it recently. We were wondering is this still an issue for you? Can you try with
the latest development release of Ubuntu?
I have the same problem on my Toshiba Tecra M9. It works fine with the nv
driver. With the nvidia driver it only works on tty, not for X11.

Tested this with hardy live cd (which has the latest nvidia driver) and it is
not fixed
On Kubuntu, there is no slider visible, and brightness is unaffected as
well.

I too have the same problem. The light level pop up to show I change the
level up and down but the screen remain the same brightness.
