This has been happening for quite a while on Ubuntu now, it would be
great to be able to take multiple screenshots without having to close
the app first, unfortunately this now results in stacking shadows that
can be seen in the end result.

Bugs,
Similarly, when taking a full-screen screenshot the whole screen is
actually dimmed as long as the screenshot window is open. If you take
several screenshots and don't close them, you can see the desktop get
dimmer and dimmer.

On my system the highlighted is also part of the screenshot, everything
screenshot region that i take as a blue tint (very annoying).
I found a workaround by using `mate-screenshot` provided by `sudo apt-
get install mate-utils`.

Thank you for your bug report, indeed that's still an issue on xenial,
not an important one because easy to workaround but it would still be
worth resolving
