Sorry for long response time, I have been having productivity issues.
Looking at the router config it gives options "Auto", "N-only" and
"legacy" and I assume "legacy" means "g" and I am going to try it now.
Even if it worked without issues in g, which I doubt, but it will be

updated the BIOS and the situation with that (5GHz having no
connectivity) hasn't changed.
