I'd wait for someone who's really got an issue with this to turn up -
which they should. I don't have a need for any language other than
English.

I have this problem.
I 've installed Ubuntu in English by mistake. I want to switch to
Italian but I can't do that because of this bug.
You can find attached to this comment a short video that shows the
problem. The same behaviour occurs with more languages installed.

Hi, I have reinstalled English and now it works. It's strange because
before I tried to remove English, the same behaviour didn't work. So
I've tried to remove English and now I've installed it again.

Seems a bit half-baked to allow removal of a language that breaks the
functionality, one of those 'this is why Linux will never be the
desktop' issues in my opinion.
I'd happily check that English is uninstallable at some point in the
future if that ever

The one you want to use should stay at the top of the list. You may need
to try a couple of times, and it may take a second or two before the
window
