I see that something has been done according to this bug, because since
yesterday I get a very annoying screen whenever I want to restart or
shut down my system.
I'm NOT happy with this. Not happy at all. See also bug #195989.
If I should need a warning screen whenever I wanted to start or close
As I am (and I'm sure this is so for many systems) the sole user of my
system, there is no need what so ever for these warning screens and
certainly not for the delay question before shutting down or restarting.

I don't understand, bert07... This bug report was about switch user
enabling you to shut down other people's work. do you always reboot
your computer via the switch user menu? If so, why do it that way?
Normally, when I reboot, I just do it from the desktop... I've noticed
no significant changes
I did forget to mention that I was talking about Jaunty.
And indeed, I always logout, restart, shut down, from there, as I assume most
people do.
In case you wouldn't yet have seen it in Jaunty, the menu
System Shut down
System Log out
System Restart
has disappeared.
Most probably just

it is not
System Restart
but
System Lock screen
that also disappeared in Jaunty. And the previous mentioned.

This appears to be fixed in Intrepid. With a guest session logged in,
even from my own admin capable account I was given a warning that other
users were logged in, and required to authenticate to initiate a reboot.

I agree with Chris, the real issue is that there is no warning. I don't
think it would be good behaviour to not allow shutdown if other people
were logged in, but there should definitely be a warning.

I suspect it may well be possible to configure GDM not to offer shutdown
options, but that doesn't entirely negate the scope of this bug report...
My laptop has two users on it and if one picks it up and switches to their user
while the other is logged in, then tells the laptop to shut down, it

For most computers, this is not such a big issue because a malicious
user can just turn off the machine anyway. However, this IS an issue for
e.g. kiosks where the user has no access to the physical machine. True,
user switching ought to be disabled by kiosk machines, but it is turned
