Ubuntu studio no longer uses GDM in any of it supported versions that I

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. The issue that you reported should be reproducible with
the live environment of the Desktop CD development release - Maverick
Meerkat. It would help us greatly if you could test with it so we can
work on getting it
I have exactly the same problem as Mikko since a few days. I never installed
ubuntustudio and my gdm.conf has the same option:
Browser=true
Any Ideas?

I found the reason on my own. It is already described in bug #228931 and
seems to be due to a recent update.

In my machine the face browser worked just fine until yesterday. Now it
shows just white box where used to be the users' logos.
I haven't installed the ubuntustudio package and hence don't have the
/etc/gdm/gdm-cdd.conf file. And I have the browser enabled:
[EMAIL PROTECTED]:/etc/gdm$ cat
Good!! This was making me go crazy for quite a bit. I assume that it
should be moved to the ubuntustudio-look package. I'm kind of new at
this so I am not sure exactly how that works.

You
Basically, I think the bug is that installing ubuntustudio-look
shouldn't disable the face browser in regular GDM themes.

Odd thing is /usr/share/ubuntustudio-look/gdm-cdd.conf should only
effect that theme. Does removing it fix the issue?

Hmm... looking at the default /etc/gdm/gdm-cdd.conf Im not sure its a
ubuntustudio-look issue because in /etc/gdm/gdm-cdd.conf its also
Browser=false.

I have two PCs and one without any ubuntustudio packages. I don't have
the /etc/gdm/gdm-cdd.conf file anywhere. I only got it once I installed
ubuntustudio-look (which installed ubuntustudio-gdm-theme). So with a
default installation of ubuntu, that file doesn't exist. Also, I think
that file
In my gdm.conf it says 'Browser=true', and I haven't edited that file ever
(in fact, I think it gets overwritten on every new gdm version). It _may_
get activated automatically when you select a theme with facebrowser, but
I'm not sure.
--
gdm shows empty face browser
In my system, gdm-cdd.conf is a symlink to
/etc/alternatives/gdm-config-derivative, which in turn is a symlink to
/usr/share/ubuntustudio-look/gdm-cdd.conf (which is installed by
ubuntustudio-gdm-theme).
@ C. Kontros: I haven't tried removing that file, but definitely changing
'Browser=true' on
I am taking a shot in the dark here, but if you have installed any
ubuntustudio packages (specifically ubuntustudio-gdm-theme or
ubuntustudio-look) then the culprit is a file called /usr/share
/ubuntustudio-look/gdm-cdd.conf which has a section that looks like
this:
# Enable the Face browser.
Quite accurate! I do have installed that, and I have that line in that file.
Should this bug be moved to the ubuntustudio-look package?
Thanks and cheers!
