That might not be the same bug. I did get a loading screen but black
after that. Do you get the same kind of errors in the gdm and xorg logs?
I tried to fix the problem by deleting all leftover Nvidia things I could find,
but no luck. I ended up doing a clean install after taking a final back up.
I got the exact same error. I'm very new to Linux so I don't know to
help you correct it, but I do know that I got that black screen
immediately after I installed Ubuntu Gutsy Gibbon (no modification at
any level, just a simple, standard installation with the language set to
Spanish).

Yes, you can try to reinstall packages with: apt-get install --reinstall
And use the "locate" command to find files with for instance "nvidia" in the
name. Maybe you have stuff in /usr/local?

Yes, I have been using propietary drivers earlier. Both the nvidia-glx-
new under feisty and a driver that came from the nvidia website. The
driver from the website was uninstalled. (Was quite some time ago)

I suspect it to be left-over trouble from the proprietary drivers. Is
there any problem when you run the 7.10 live cd?

I don't get why you have the "freetype" errors. Have you been using
proprietary drivers earlier?

You can probably fix this by running "sudo dpkg-reconfigure xserver-

Can you attach /etc/X11/xorg.conf.failsafe please?
It's running /etc/gdm/failsafeXinit for some reason.
For other developers:

The Xorg.0.log is exactly the same, including the following lines:
(**) Option "XkbModel" "pc105"
(**) Generic Keyboard: XkbModel: "pc105"
(**) Option "XkbLayout" "pc105"
(**) Generic Keyboard: XkbLayout: "pc105"
Isn't that strange? I changed the XkbLayout in the xorg.conf file...
I'll try to run
Yes I modified it myself, for testing purposes. There is no difference
in using pc105 or se. I'll switch it back and test again just to be
sure.

This looks strange in xorg.conf:
Option "XkbModel" "pc105"
Option "XkbLayout" "pc105"
The XkbLayout should be for instance "se". Did you modify that file yourself at
any point?
