Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gcalctool

If you have a non-zero result showing and you try to change modes, a
Changing Modes Clears Calculation dialog pops up telling you that you
must clear your calculation to change modes. The dialog also gives you
a chance to cancel. If you cancel using the Cancel button, everything
works as it should. However, if you use the Esc key to cancel this
dialog, the mode selection no longer works until you restart gcalctool.

Steps to reproduce:
1. Launch gcalctool
2. Press 8
3. In the View menu, select Advanced
4. Focus the Changing Modes Clears Calculation dialog and press Esc
5. Open the View menu. Notice that the Advanced mode is selected, even though
gcalctool remains in Basic mode.
6. In the View menu, select Financial. Notice that gcalctool remains in Basic
mode.
