Entirely removing it is not that easy, we need to remove a bunch of
other packages that depend on it:
$ reverse-depends src:python-scientific
Reverse-Recommends

* python-scitools (for python-scientific)
* science-distributedcomputing (for mpich2python)

I don't believe we need to do anything about the Reverse-Recommends.
sixpack, mmtk, dolfin, gpivtools and fenics (which depends on dolfin)
will have to be removed as well.
