Hi Lubosz - sorry for replying so late after your answer.
I am wondering if this fix can be undone/removed, for example when
Kubuntu releases a supported version? I am asking because I have sound-
issues, and a solution suggested building Alsa from source. Sadly, the
solution doesn't fix my issue.

Make sure following stuff is installed:
