Search in Web Browser History is not
It does require some input from design. Implementing something that
works is the easy part, making sure it’s consistent and good UX and UI
usually is trickier (and the reason why app design is not left to
developers).
That said, I agree with you that it’s important, I’ll poke the design
team
Any news on this? It's still not in OTA 12.
I don't think this needs design decision because it's a matter of enabling the
search action in portrait or any windows size and there's plenty of space in
the header. Many apps has search function. I really don't get this. Sorry :)

This to me is completely inconsistent with the overall UI experience
that allows search in all other apps and scopes in portrait. There is
also plenty of room in landscape.
