Btw. with Ubuntu 8.10 Alpha 4+, the touchpad does not work at all.

Still MacBook Pro users need full support for their touchpad. What can
be done so that they get it? Attach it to another package maybe? My
knowledge of the Ubuntu enhancement process is a little too limited to
know what there is to do know.

There's no way we will be putting that on the xorg.conf automatically.
Actually, on hardy there is no entry in the xorg.conf anymore for
synaptics, since we will be using input-hotplug soon.
If there is a bug, it should be fixed in the driver.
