Public bug reported: I tried all the help pages I could find several times over. no success. posted on Ubuntu help. The question was voted down, no response. I have a useless machine. Why bother with Linux when there's no assistance? I did get the wifi working at one stage, however, after a shut down and restart it didn't work again.
I am not a programmer but can follow simple instructions (copy & paste into a terminal is OK for me). . BCM43142 wl 14e4:4365 "no wireless extensions" Sony Vaio svf14a18scp Latest version of Ubuntu (just installed) I do have a wired internet connection now, but the machine has to be wireless when returned to the owner. Urgent assistance is required.
