Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. The Steam package has been updated in future releases of Ubuntu. The "steam-launcher" package and http://repo.steampowered.com/steam/presice repository you mention as having installed come from Valve themselves

To fix this you need to uninstall the steam-launcher package: sudo apt remove steam-launcher remove repo.steampowered.com from your sources and then install the steam package from multiverse: sudo apt install steam Once you've done this, run Steam and let it sort out its install/update/etc.,
