Public bug reported:

if I go to the sound preferences and set any of them to ALSA and then
click test I get this error. OSS works fine, but who wants that? this
happened AFTER an upgrade to gutsy, I know some other bugs were reported
but they were on feisty, but my sound has always worked until the
upgrade (luckily the only major issue). I have already deleted the
.asoundrc and related file from my home directory in an attempt to fix
this. same error. I'm not sure what to try next.

I am using a sound blaster Extigy USB sound card on gutsy 7.10 with all
updates as of today, 2.6.22.14 kernel, let me know if you need any other
info
