yes, it is a dependency, but alternative to the kernel module.
the reason is: why the kernel module from src:linux doesn't work?
installing it might work, but it is an alternative way to do the same
stuff, so I would appreciate to understand why the kernel modules aren't
working.

Yup, that was the problem.
Works now, no errror messages, even the login screen is enlarged, and
copy-paste working.
As far as I remember it was enough to install tue virtualbox-guest-utils
in earlier releases. Based on my notes that's what I dead with earlier
releases. And I've never seen these
virtualbox-guest-dkms was not installed. I'll just install it.
Wasn't this once in the dependencies of virtualbox-guest-utils?

I just tried that.
1. enabled the proposed repository
2. installed new linux-image-generic and got 4.4.0-22 (before I had 4.4.0-21).
3. reboot
result:
+ The screen now resizes to full screen (*after* login, the login
screen itself is still small).
