Public bug reported: Per a discussion with Colin Watson at UDS-Boston, 2007, we found an anomaly that occurs when the syslog server is restarted after its initial start in netcfg. It appeared to be a race-condition, as running the script through strace or attaching strace bypassed the waitpid.
It manifested itself as the postinst maintainer script for the netcfg udeb became a zombie, even though its children had moved on to a different process group and session. ** Affects: libdebian-installer (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Affects: libdebian-installer (Debian) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Also affects: libdebian-installer (Debian) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- Logger Framework Conducive to Creating Zombie Processes When Syslog is Restarted https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/160071 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
