Title:
Sony VAIO PCG-61A12L (VPCEG16FM) Intel Backlight Issue
To manage notifications about this bug go to:
Michael Murphy, to keep this relevant to upstream, one would want to
test the latest mainline kernel (now 4.8-rc4) as it is released.
Could you please advise?
** Description changed:
- The backlight for this model cannot be modified by the backlight keys
- unless a GRUB configuration is built
It's been an issue with this laptop since the day the laptop released,
so there has never been a solution. testing the latest kernel is always
what I do, so I can verify that 4.8-rc2 does not include a fix for this
model.

Did this issue start happening after an update/upgrade? Was there a
prior kernel version where you were not having this particular problem?
Would it be possible for you to test the latest upstream kernel? Refer
to https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds . Please test the latest
