Synaptics touchpad not detected in Clevo P650RS
I have the same issue on a Metabox P650-RP (re-badged Clevo), Ubuntu
16.10, kernel 4.8.0-46. Adding i8042.reset to my kernel command line
fixed it for me also. I'm currently upgrading to 17.04 so I'll see if
the problem persists in the new kernel.

periodically check for, and test the latest mainline kernel (now 4.9) as
it is released.

It is not after any update/upgrade. It is a new hardware.
I tested the 4.9 RC7, nothing has changes. Still not any mouse in
/proc/bus/input/devices.
