OK, I found the culprit. I first re-upgraded ghostscript. Then I downgrading imagemagick and imagemagick-common to 3.1, but it was not enough to make it work again. Then I tried downgrading libmagickwand5, libmagickcore5, libmagick++5 to 3.1, and it works! Then I re-upgraded, one package at a

Looking at the Synaptic updates log on my system, imagemagick updates were done at 01:45 and 13:01. However, I could create an image with imagemagick at 13:04 on Dec. 1st. Three minutes after the last update. The following packages were updated afterwards: ghostscript (9.10~dfsg-0ubuntu10.4) to
