The latest LAM releases (6.0.1 and later) have full PHP 7.1
compatibility and still work on PHP 5.6. Please get the software from
there.
If there any other issues like login please provide some more details
and it will be fixed.

I tried the package from the LAM site and couldn't get the login to
work. However I found that phpLDAPadmin works and is supported. So I've
switched.

I did find that there is a Debian package for LAM 6.0.1 on their site
that installs on Ubuntu 16.04 using php7.
