Public bug reported: I tried running a demo for matplotlib (https://matplotlib.org/mpl_examples/api/date_demo.py) and I got an error:
IOError: [Errno 2] No such file or directory: u'/usr/share/matplotlib /mpl-data/sample_data/goog.npy' I did not investigate thoroughly but for me, the files are in the wrong location. /usr/share/matplotlib/sample_data should be located in /usr/share/matplotlib/mpl_data/sample_data. At least this is where matplotlib.cbook.get_sample_data() function will for its files not in /usr/share/matplotlib/sample_data I don't know why it's the wrong location on ubuntu ??? For a quick fix, I made a symbolic link for sample_date in mpl_data directory.
