Cool. Using only LTS releases is perfectly fine. Many people do that.
The fix for this enhancement request is already released in Ubuntu
17.10. LTS users will see it in 18.04.

Thanks, Daniel. I am using 16.04. I normally upgrade only between LTS. I
hope what you are talking is about 17.10, right ? I am happy with the
clock on the top bar. Hoping to see it just like in Windows lock screen
at the middle of the screen as well ( after logged in )

The desktop already has a live clock, as does the lock screen.
Can you please clarify what's missing? Is it just that the screen turns
off before you can see it?

Awesome ! Let's hope it will be available in 18.04 as well. Hopefully,

Perhaps because the lock screen turns off the screen rather quickly,
people don't notice the clock. Or people know it's there but don't
consider it a usable clock if the screen is off. :)

So I don't understand your issue. It certainly looks like a lock screen
clock to me.
