Public bug reported:

Tried again to install Ubuntu 17.10 onto a new Samsung EVO 850 500GB
SSD. The installer still crashes when it tries to load the Grub2 boot
loader. I have done some checking on the forums, and every time I get a
possible solution, Grub seems to come up with a new reason why it can't
be installed, but a lot of the forum entries are older, c. 2012 with
Ubuntu 12.10. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
