Public bug reported: I started Ubuntu from a USB drive, then clicked on "Install Ubuntu".
I chose to both download packages during installation and install 3rd party software, then I chose all my options (lang: EN, keyb: ES, etc.). I answered that I wanted UEFI even if my old OS was not UEFI. I also did manual partitioning like this: - Delete sda1 - Create sda1 as ext4 - Format sda1 - Mount sda1 as / - Mount sdb1 as ext4 - DO NOT format sdb1 (it's my old home partition and I want to keep it!) - Mount sdb1 as /home - Mount sdb2 as swap - Format sdb2 - Install loader on sda Installation was going fine but at the end it failed when doing something with UEFI. Maybe I needed to create a partition for UEFI? If so, I wasn't warned. ---------- More data: ---------- lsb_release -rd Description: Ubuntu 17.10 Release: 17.10 ---------- apt-cache policy ubiquity ubiquity: Installed: 17.10.10 Candidate: 17.10.10 Version table: *** 17.10.10 500 500 http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu artful/main amd64 Packages 100 /var/lib/dpkg/status ---------- ProblemType: Bug DistroRelease: Ubuntu 17.10 Package: ubiquity 17.10.10 ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 4.13.0-21.24-generic 4.13.13 Uname: Linux 4.13.0-21-generic x86_64 ApportVersion: 2.20.7-0ubuntu3.7 Architecture: amd64 CasperVersion: 1.387 Date: Wed Feb 21 13:22:03 2018 LiveMediaBuild: Ubuntu 17.10 "Artful Aardvark" - Release amd64 (20180105.1) SourcePackage: ubiquity UpgradeStatus: No upgrade log present (probably fresh install) ** Affects: ubiquity (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: amd64 apport-bug artful -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1750812 Title: Ubuntu install crashes when installing uefi To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/ubiquity/+bug/1750812/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
