Public bug reported:

Did an apt-get upgrade in the last week and upon rebooting discovered
that the icons represented on the desktop are for the root folder rather
than from the desktop folder of the logged in user. Haven't been able
to isolate problem package because updates usually include 10-20
packages. You cannot alter, drop files into, delete any of the folders
due to incorrect permissions. The icons represent /bin /home /lib /sbin
/sys /proc etc. When browsing the file system using Dolphin and
Konqueror the correct files are still in the Desktop folder. Would love
to help debug this but don't have any idea where to start. This seems
to be the same bug reported at bugs.kde.org #152907 on 11/26/02007.
