You just disable the drive in BIOS, and it's going to be seen in Ubuntu.

So running from the LiveCD works for you? Yet running the Hardy kernel
from a Gutsy install doesn't work correct? I just want to clarify.

I downloaded the kernel from hardy, booted up with it and still nothing :|
Same thing. I'm think it has something to do with HAL or ACPI.
With the LiveCD I can see the drive identified by /dev/sr0. It uses the sr_mod
kernel module.
This is as far as I could get.

The Hardy Heron Alpha2 release will be coming out soon (around Dec 20).
It will have an updated version of the kernel. It would be great if you
could test with this new release and verify if this issue still exists.
