This bug appears to be corrected in Ubuntu hardy (8.04) openoffice.org
1:2.4.0~rc2-1ubuntu3 so I am marking it as Fix Released. If after
upgrading you continue see this problem then feel free to reopen the
bug.

Note that the part that is not redrawn ceased to turn steel grey in the
meantime; it just remains white.
