Hello,
It started happening with 16.04 (after an update from a version I don't
remember), I was hoping this would be fixed in the next LTS
I'll try to see what can be done to update the kernel (but the laptop is
used by my mother)

Did this issue start happening after an update/upgrade? Was there a
prior kernel version where you were not having this particular problem?
Would it be possible for you to test the latest upstream kernel? Refer
