I have a similar problem in Ubuntu 8.10. I plugged Labtec wireless
mouse's connector and now I have audio skipping issues also. It occurs
in youtube, totem, vlc (so far anyway). I unplugged the wireless mouse
and the issues occur, but less frequently.

I tried to reproduce the issue on my laptop with a gutsy live cd, and
was unable to. I can reproduce it on my desktop with the Gutsy live cd
also, so I think it's either a hardware issue with my desktop hardware,
or some kind of driver issue for my desktop hardware.
