You didn't say which version you are using. Try Hardy alpha2 livecd (or alpha3 which is released later this week), which doesn't force any monitor settings anymore. Attach the /var/log/Xorg.0.log from hardy. ** Changed in: xorg (Ubuntu) Status: New = Incomplete -- Xorg does not detect
