Public bug reported: With the default configuration (nothing changed), I see in the development version of ubuntu (disco) that unattended-upgrade is now updating every package first thing after boot.
As you can see below, it didn't update packages from the security pocket, but all packages in the release pocket (mutter, gnome-shell and others just migrated to disco-release). 1. This makes on the development version a PITA, because you don't control your own updates 2. I didn't enroll to update all packages at any time 3. "Software & Updates" tells me it is set to only auto-install security updates, which isn't the case (at least on the development version) ----- Start-Date: 2019-04-12 07:54:35 Commandline: /usr/bin/unattended-upgrade Upgrade: runc:amd64 (1.0.0~rc6+git20190307.2b18fe1d-0ubuntu1, 1.0.0~rc7+git20190403.029124da-0ubuntu1) End-Date: 2019-04-12 07:54:38 Start-Date: 2019-04-12 07:54:41 Commandline: /usr/bin/unattended-upgrade Upgrade: gir1.2-mutter-4:amd64 (3.32.0-1ubuntu2, 3.32.0+git20190410-1ubuntu1), libmutter-4-0:amd64 (3.32.0-1ubuntu2, 3.32.0+git20190410-1ubuntu1), mutter-common:amd64 (3.32.0-1ubuntu2, 3.32.0+git20190410-1ubuntu1) End-Date: 2019-04-12 07:54:44 Start-Date: 2019-04-12 07:54:46 Commandline: /usr/bin/unattended-upgrade Upgrade: gnome-shell-common:amd64 (3.32.0-1ubuntu1, 3.32.0+git20190410-1ubuntu1), gnome-shell:amd64 (3.32.0-1ubuntu1, 3.32.0+git20190410-1ubuntu1) End-Date: 2019-04-12 07:54:49 Start-Date: 2019-04-12 07:54:51 Commandline: /usr/bin/unattended-upgrade Upgrade: fwupd-signed:amd64 (1.5+1.2.5-1, 1.6+1.2.5-1ubuntu1), fwupd:amd64 (1.2.5-1, 1.2.5-1ubuntu1) End-Date: 2019-04-12 07:54:53 Start-Date: 2019-04-12 07:54:56 Commandline: /usr/bin/unattended-upgrade Upgrade: libopenexr-dev:amd64 (2.2.1-4build1, 2.2.1-4.1), libopenexr23:amd64 (2.2.1-4build1, 2.2.1-4.1) End-Date: 2019-04-12 07:54:57 Start-Date: 2019-04-12 07:55:00 Commandline: /usr/bin/unattended-upgrade Upgrade: python3-apport:amd64 (2.20.10-0ubuntu26, 2.20.10-0ubuntu27), apport-gtk:amd64 (2.20.10-0ubuntu26, 2.20.10-0ubuntu27) End-Date: 2019-04-12 07:55:01 Start-Date: 2019-04-12 07:55:04 Commandline: /usr/bin/unattended-upgrade Upgrade: libfwupd2:amd64 (1.2.5-1, 1.2.5-1ubuntu1) End-Date: 2019-04-12 07:55:04 Start-Date: 2019-04-12 07:55:07 Commandline: /usr/bin/unattended-upgrade Upgrade: mutter:amd64 (3.32.0-1ubuntu2, 3.32.0+git20190410-1ubuntu1) End-Date: 2019-04-12 07:55:07 Start-Date: 2019-04-12 07:55:10 Commandline: /usr/bin/unattended-upgrade Upgrade: apport-retrace:amd64 (2.20.10-0ubuntu26, 2.20.10-0ubuntu27) End-Date: 2019-04-12 07:55:11 Start-Date: 2019-04-12 07:55:13 Commandline: /usr/bin/unattended-upgrade Upgrade: apport:amd64 (2.20.10-0ubuntu26, 2.20.10-0ubuntu27) End-Date: 2019-04-12 07:55:16 ----------- ProblemType: Bug DistroRelease: Ubuntu 19.04 Package: unattended-upgrades 1.10ubuntu2 ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 5.0.0-8.9-generic 5.0.1 Uname: Linux 5.0.0-8-generic x86_64 NonfreeKernelModules: zfs zunicode zavl icp zcommon znvpair nvidia_modeset nvidia ApportVersion: 2.20.10-0ubuntu27 Architecture: amd64 CurrentDesktop: ubuntu:GNOME Date: Fri Apr 12 08:12:34 2019 InstallationDate: Installed on 2018-05-24 (322 days ago) InstallationMedia: Ubuntu 18.04 LTS "Bionic Beaver" - Release amd64 (20180426) PackageArchitecture: all SourcePackage: unattended-upgrades UpgradeStatus: Upgraded to disco on 2019-01-08 (93 days ago) ** Affects: unattended-upgrades (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: amd64 apport-bug disco -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1824470 Title: unattended-upgrade is running on the dev version, updating regular packages To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/unattended-upgrades/+bug/1824470/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
