as noted in debian bug 918742:

I marked debian-bug 918742 as being the upstream for this, but
technically that bug was against fakechroot and the only change was to
disable the hanging test; however jemalloc2 in debian did fix this, and
the changelog entry for the fix only mentions that debian bug.
