Title:
gnome-shell freezes a few seconds using kernel 5.0.0
This bug has been assigned to the kernel because it was found that
kernel version 4.15 does not have the bug. If you don't find the same
then please open a separate bug.

I am experiencing this same issue with a fresh install of Ubuntu 20.04
when I select wayland to log in to my desktop. It's triggering by
typing. Every few seconds, the system will pause slightly before
registering my keypress. It makes basic typing very frustrating.
