To confirm this isn't Bashtop at fault I installed XTerm. Bashtop displays perfectly there as well as in LxTerminal. The issue IMHO is that QTerminal isn't correctly handling monospaced fonts and of course Bashtop relies on correct handling of those for it all to line up correctly. -- You

The fact that is occurs in cool-retro-term implies it's not QTerminal to me (where bug was originally filed) https://packages.ubuntu.com/groovy/cool-retro-term shows deps for the groovy version (I tested using my now hirsute system) It occurs on the deb packaged cool-retro-term too, which is I

I beg your pardon? Did I mention snap? Did I recommend QTerminal - no I didn't. I don't think you can say that bashtop is at fault here, as it's the new bow of the block (QTerminal) that display the output incorrectly, while established terminal windows work fine. David -- You received this

For one, I think we should avoid the Snap, as the author of bashtop doesn't recommend it as an installation method. Furthermore, the author of the Snap is different. Secondly, the author does recommend Qterminal, at least as one with true color support. It also seems to be really particular

I changed fonts in QTerminal to use the same monospaced font as LxTerminal (I think). The output was still incorrect, but differently so. David -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1901313

Hi Chris, Absolutely agreed, I don't think it's Ubuntu per se - strictly a QTerminal problem I think as LxTerminal displays correctly. David -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1901313

Just a comment, this is not limited to anything in Ubuntu, as I saw it last night using `bpytop` on Debian Bullseye/Sid (it occurs there with `bashtop` too) I also suspect it occurs in other shells too (not just QTerminal) as I've seen it on systems where I wasn't using LXQt (including 18.04)
