Ok, this is going in a weird direction. I had (in 2020) an equal issue with a device going from 18.04 to 20.04. I left that behind doing a clean 20.04 install. Now with another device I am not able to do a clean install (I am not able to backup the stuff in this device) then I will like to fix

Reviewing the log file, /var/log/dist-upgrade/main.log, from your upgrade attempt there was a failure to communicate with the mirror of the Ubuntu archive which you use. This could either be due to an issue with your connection to the mirror or with the mirror itself. Regardless, this is an issue
