FYI, the bug doesn't appear in latest nightly build of Thunderbird 3
Any clue how to fix it in thunderbird 2 ?

I have the same issue with thunderbird version 2.0.0.12 , attachment
icons don't appear in the compose window nor when displaying a received
message, I can see only file names.
I'm running the latest hardy 8.04 Ubuntu version with Gnome and no 3D
extension.
Any help would be appreciated.
